Lee Styer, from Reading, PA, began washing dishes at the age of eleven at a local Italian restaurant, Maniaci’s, where he realized that he wanted to cook and become a chef. Throughout high school, Lee worked at both Emily’s Pub and Judy’s on Cherry while studying culinary arts at the Berks Career and Technology Center, and went on to attend The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, where he met his future wife, Jessie Prawlucki. Lee completed an internship at The Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel, graduated from CIA in 2005, and moved to Philadelphia, where he began working at Tangerine. After Tangerine, Chef Styer went on to work at Lacroix at the Rittenhouse, where he met Tory Keomanivong, and then Le Bec-Fin, before opening Fond, a small BYOB on Passyunk Avenue, with Jessie and Tory in August 2009.
