Jessie Prawlucki is the pastry chef and owner of Belle Cakery. A graduate of The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, she’s been a pastry professional since 2005, but had her hands in dough and desserts since she was allowed to use the oven. Originally from the north shore of Massachusetts, Jessie came to love baking and pastry while watching her mother cook for her own catering company, and that passion continues to grow.
Upon graduation from CIA, Jessie moved to Hana, Hawaii, to work in the pastry kitchen of The Hotel Hana – Maui for six months until her college boyfriend, Lee Styer, persuaded her to join him in Philadelphia. In Philly, Jessie had the amazing opportunity to work at Le Bec-Fin, where she progressed to head pastry chef in her three and a half year tenure.
Jessie left Le Bec-Fin to open Fond in August 2009 with her now-husband, Lee Styer, and their good friend Tory Keomanivong. After two successful years at Fond, Jessie was ready to expand, and found a space one block from fond to create Belle Cakery, a small retail patisserie and café. She spends most of her time at the bakery, where she produces all of the bread and desserts for Fond, as well as items for retail at the shop. Individual desserts, cookies, brittles, candies, breads, and more are available for immediate purchase; custom cakes, including wedding cakes, and pastries are available to order.
